Fishing tour full of fun

Hello to all my fellow anglers and folks who read this column. I hope you all had a good Labor Day weekend.

Well, I do have a few fishing stories from our coastal area, including one about my dear friend and co-captain of the dock tour, Lu Smith. She took a little tour of her own and, needless to say, it was not to Gilligan’s Island.

She landed 17 nice-sized trout and several catch-and-release spottail bass. Not a bad tour, I’d say.

Here are a few reports from Yellow Bluff. Roy Redman was fishing for two days and netted 15 trout both days. Billy Lane and party had 20 trout and 10 spottail bass — all that is missing there is some cheese grits! Herman and Denise also went out for two days and caught 30 trout one day, and netted 19 trout and two spottail the next. Bing Phillips and Robert Moody had great day on the water with 30 trout and five spottail bass.

Well, friends, it looks like the fish are biting, so get out there with friends and family and have a good time, but remember — safety first.

Rayburn at Yellow Bluff Marina has live shrimp and minnows. Barney and crew at Sunbury Crab Company and Marina have live shrimp and minnows. Halfmoon Marina has live shrimp. Big Rudy at the Sunbury Country Store has frozen shrimp, finger mullet, cigar minnows, ballyhoo and squid.

Remember what Ol’ Tight Line always said: Get out there and go fishing and, if you do, always remember to keep a tight line. I always say hit the dock, keep a sharp eye and watch that cork go down. Until next time, do me a favor — get out there and wet a hook. It’s good for you.

Your buddy,

Tight Line Jr.
