LUDOWICI -- The Long County Sheriff's Department made an arrest involving cocaine on May 15.
At around 10:30 p.m. on that Thursday, Deputy Tom Wall stopped a vehicle on Highway 301 South for appearing to have defective equipment.
Driving the 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis was Raymond Hodge III, 22.
After Hodge pulled his automobile over, Wall checked on the driver and vehicle, and found that the car did not have valid insurance. The deputy contacted a wrecker service to tow and store the vehicle, and he conducted a property search.
During the search, Wall discovered a "white rocky substance wrapped in cellophane" in the vehicle, as well as an open container of Red Dog Beer.
Wall then arrested Hodge. The Long/Liberty County MACE Unit was called and the evidence was turned over to them.
Hodge was charged with possessing a controlled substance-cocaine, open container in a vehicle and no proof of insurance.
