The Walthourville mayor’s race has drawn four candidates, including the incumbent.
Qualifying for Walthourville City Council concluded Friday, with four of the five posts drawing competition. Only current Post 4 council member, Luciria Luckey Lovette, is running unopposed. There will be at least two new members on the council, as two incumbents have chosen to run for mayor.
Mayor Larry Baker, elected to office four years ago, will be challenged by Charlie L. Anderson Sr., Sarah B. Hayes and Paulette Jamison. Anderson, who holds the Post 2 council seat, and Hayes, from Post 5, are giving up their council seats to run for mayor.
Incumbent James Hendry will face challenger Mitchell Boston for Post 1, and incumbent Bridgette Kelly will face challenger Alan Stewart for Post 3. Patrick Underwood and Daisy Pray are running for Post 2, and Robert (Bob) Dodd and Patricia Green are running for Post 5.
The general election is scheduled for November 7.
