According to a news story by the Associated Press and the Savannah Morning News’ Savannah State University beat reporter Noell Barnidge, former BI Tiger running back Sheldon Barnes scored his first college touchdown for the Savannah State Tigers last week.

The SSU Tigers played Albany State in Waycross’ "Rumble in the Swamp" Saturday, and with 5:41 left in regulation, Barnes scored his first touchdown on a 5-yard run.

The Tigers lost, however, 28-14.

According to Barnidge, Barnes finished the game with 11 carries for 17 yards. He has played in four games and has run for 28 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown, on 15 carries.
