Lady Tigers sweep Effingham; boys split

The Bradwell Institute Lady Tiger basketball team took two wins against Effingham County High and South Effingham County in games held last week. The Tiger boys split victories losing against Effingham but beating the Mustangs.

The BI Squads were at the Rebels’ home gym on Jan. 12, where the boys’ varsity team lost 78-64. 

Elyiah Thurmon had 12 points, Johnathon Bryant added 10 and Tristan Armas had 8. The Tigers were 20 of 34 at the line. The boys’ varsity rebounded with a win on Jan. 15 against the South Effingham Mustangs. The Tigers won 57-53 at home.

Bryant led with 12 points. Armas and T. Frasier each chipped in 11 points. The boys were 12 of 28 at the line.

They are 4-7 overall and were set to play last night against Glynn County.

The Lady Tigers are 5-5 overall. They defeated the Lady Rebels 67-19 and downed the Lady Mustangs 67-39.

Against Effingham, Taniyah Bowman led in scoring with 17 points. Bailey Gilmore added 15 points in the game. Bowman had a game high 31 points against the Lady Mustangs. Gilmore chipped in 11 points.

The Lady Tigers’ next game is against Statesboro on Jan. 22.

The Liberty County High School Panther basketball teams were scheduled to play against Groves last night.
