Liberty County rallied to take both ends of a doubleheader from Bradwell Institute on Tuesday evening, winning the opener 8-5 and taking the nightcap 11-10 at Bradwell.

Zeke Herrington’s oneout, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning delivered the game-winner in Game 2.

Thanks to a seven-run third inning, the Tigers built a 9-3 lead, with the help of four walks and two hit batters.

The Panthers chipped away at the lead, closing to within 9-6 before Nigel Green tagged and scored on a pop-up in the sixth.

But a wild pitch and a two-run error allowed the Panthers to cut the gap to 10-9 in the sixth before Herrington’s game-winner.

Jeff Kissinger was 2-for-4 for the Tigers, who had just three hits in the second game but also drew six walks. Jamison Thomas was 2-for-4 with four RBIs for the Panthers.

D.J. Walker struck out seven over five one-hit innings for the Panthers to get the win. Shedrick Pass fanned nine in 4 2/3 innings for the Tigers.

The Panthers struck for four runs in the bottom of the fifth in a back-andforth opening game. Liberty managed just three hits off Nigel Green and Felix Garcia. Green struck out six in 4 1/3 innings and Liberty starter Carlos Singleton racked up nine strikeouts in six innings.

Pass also went 2-for-3 at the plate while Damorion Morris tripled and drove in two runs and Dustin Snelson added a line-drive double and one RBI.

Bradwell scored twice in the first before Liberty tied the game 2-2 in the second. Snelson’s double to left in the third plated Kissinger to make it 3-2, but Liberty’s baserunning led to two runs and a 4-3 lead.

Morris’ two-run, twoout triple in the fourth gave the Tigers their final lead of the first game.

Liberty, now 2-1, will travel to McIntosh County Academy on Saturday and New Hampstead on Tuesday. Bradwell, 0-2, will host Portal on Tuesday.
