STATESBORO — The Georgia Southern baseball team will make its 14th NCAA Regional appearance on Friday when they face Florida State at 6 p.m. in Tallahassee.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
The Eagles, who won five straight games to win the Southern Conference’s Tournament and automatic bid last weekend, will enter the field of 64 for the first time since 2011 as a No. 4 seed. Alabama and Kennesaw State round out the regional field.
GSU has faced Florida State 112 times and trails, 29-83, in the all-time series. The Eagles have not faced Alabama since 2002 and trail, 14-6, in that all-time series. GSU has a 9-8 edge all-time against Kennesaw State, but the Owls won both midweek meetings this season.
The Seminoles are the nation’s No. 5 seed. Oregon State (42-12), Florida (40-21), Virginia (44-13), Indiana (42-13), La.-Lafayette (53-7), TCU (42-15) and LSU (44-14-1) round out the rest of the top eight seeds.
According to gseagles.com, ticket books for the Tallahassee Regional are on sale at www.seminoles.com and by calling 888-378-6653. Costs are $50 for reserved seats and $35 for general-admission seats. Single-game general-admission tickets for Friday’s sessions go on sale at 8 a.m. Friday at seminoles.com for $10 for adults and $6 for youth ages 4-18. Tickets for reserved seats, if available, are $15 apiece.
