First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys’ basketball team is now setting their sights on a state championship after winning the Region 2A-AA championship Friday night.

The boys went into the Georgia Independent School Association Region AA battle against 2A-AA Region opponent Robert Toombs Academy on Thursday during the semi-finals winning 68-30.

The win advanced the boys to the finals at Curtis Baptist where the Highlanders won 79-44.

Despite the wide margin in the final score Highlander coach David Jones said Curtis Baptist trailed by only four points in the half.

"We let them dictate how the ball game was going to be played the first half," he said. "We played the way they wanted us to play. We shot quick shots and we weren’t patient on offense."

The boys are headed to Middle Georgia in Cochran on Thursday and will take on either Piedmont or Brentwood out of Region 1A-AA.
