It was a day of community fellowship and fun as the first 3-vs-3 ICI Hoopfest took place on Saturday, June 5.

10 teams made up of players from surrounding counties flocked to The Colosseum for the tournament.

The tournament, which took place at what is locally known as the “Blue Court”, featured several former Long County, Liberty County, Bradwell, and Wayne County basketball players and coaches participating.

The winners of the Hoopfest was Team Ham, made up of former Blue Tide basketball stars Jimmy Bacon and Trajan Weatherspoon and current Blue Tide star Cameryn Johnson.

The team was coached by Michael Johnson.

The event, which also featured sack races, bounce houses, an open mic performance, and a three-point shootout, was coordinated by former Blue Tide basketball player Craig Walker with Jerome Spaulding and Romonda Stewart serving as sponsors.

“We would like to thank all participants, vendors, and supporters who made this day truly a success,” Walker said.

The Colosseum was recently renovated in a community clean up day and the Hoopfest was the first of its kind at the court.

Walker hopes to make this an annual event with it spreading to even more former players from around the area.
