Tristan Ximello Casillas enjoys making a good pass on the soccer field. But he can chalk up another goal Tuesday afternoon.

The Bradwell Institute senior signed a letter of intent Tuesday to play soccer at Point University, surrounded by dozens of teammates, coaches and friends.

“I’ve been working my whole life to play at the next level,” the usually taciturn, by his own coach’s admission, Ximello Casillas said. “I’m really excited. It means a lot.”

Ximello-Casillas scored eight goals and notched five assists in his senior season. He expects to play midfield at Point.

“I like passing the ball a lot, giving through balls to my strikers,” he said.

Bradwell coach Tommy Oglesby said he admonished Ximello Casillas to be more vocal on the field.

“But what you can’t take away from Tristan is his technical ability and his vision on the field,” he said. “He works extremely hard.” Point University has an enrollment of about 2,000 and for Ximello Casillas, it seemed a perfect fit “It’s a small campus, not very many students in each classroom,” he said. Oglesby encouraged Ximello Casillas to be true to himself and to his sport, and to keep up the passion for soccer.

“One thing I strive for here is I instill characteristics, being a man, being a person of integrity, being someone who perseveres,” he said.
