STATESBORO — The 2006-07 season for the Performing Arts Center at Georgia Southern University brings the The Capital Steps to campus Saturday. Based in Washington, DC, this musical group is famous for its politically inspired and hilarious song parodies.

Rockin’ at the library
The Brunswick-Glynn County Library is hosts The Rockin’ Writers Roadshow: An Evening of Stories and Songs tonight at 7.
Drawing from their histories as musicians, songwriters, authors and journalists, Buzz Cason and Rich Everitt weave together an evening of stories and songs about the days when rock was young. You will hear the smash hits Cason has written for scores of artists including Jimmy Buffet, Gloria Estefan, the Beatles and others. He’ll also talk about his book, “Living The Rock ‘n’ Roll Dream.” From his book “Falling Stars,” Everitt will reveal never-before-told stories about some of your favorite founding fathers of rock: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper.

Southern Women’s Show
The Southern Women’s show comes to Savannah Beginning Friday today through through Sunday at Savannah’s International Trade and Convention Center. Shop for the latest in fashions and accessories, watch fabulous fashion shows, sample gourmet foods, treat yourself to a makeover, meet Dr. Will from TV’s “Big Brother,” and much more.

Super Sunday
Museums all over the area will be open free Sunday for Super Museum Sunday. Most of the sites are in Savannah, but the Midway Museum, LeConte Woodmanston Rice Plantation near Riceboro and Fort Morris State Historic Site at Sunbury are also opening their doors. Harlem basketball
The Human Animal Resource Team of McIntosh County presents the McIntosh Hart-Breakers versus the Ambassadors Harlem Basketball game at 5 p.m. Sunday at the McIntosh Middle School gym in Darien. Concessions and souvenirs will be available, and an autographed game ball will be raffled.
Guys and gals, age 18 and over, who have fundamental basketball skills and a sense of humor are welcome. An autographed team shirt is yours as a memento of your night.
Advance tickets are $6 for adults, and $4 for students and seniors. Game night tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and $2 for children under 5. Tickets are available at McIntosh County Chamber of Commerce, Blackburn Veterinary Clinic and Eulonia Pharmacy. All proceeds benefit the Humane Animal Resource Team of McIntosh County. District Choir concert
The Northern District Concert Choir will be live at the St. James Community Church, 1140 Holmestown Road near Midway at 7 p.m. Saturday and again at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Greater Emmanuel Tabernacle Church of Christ, 1101 Stiles Ave. in Savannah. Join the Chamber of Commerce at a Business After Hours from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 15, celebrating the grand opening of All American Center owned by George and Babs Holtzman. The Center is home to Holtzman Insurance Agency, Holtzman Real Estate Services, All American Storage and U-Haul, and Peacocks Paint Center. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at 1146 E.G. American Legion Post 168
The American Legion Post 168 will host a Boston butt sale starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1121 West Oglethorpe Highway. The cost is $20 each and the proceeds will help the post to assist veterans, their families and the community. For more information, call Matt Dillon at 572-8291.

Forestry pageants
The Miss Liberty and Miss Long County Forestry Scholarship Pageants will be on Feb. 24 at Brewton-Parker College in Flemington.
Contestants are being sought. The pageants are open to all contestants 0-16 years. Contestants ages 17-24 must live, work or go to school in the county they represent.
Both pageants are preliminaries to the Miss Georgia Forestry Scholarship Pageant. Winners will get gold crowns, custom sashes, trophies and entry fees paid to the 68th Miss Georgia Forestry State Scholarship Pageant in June in Tifton. The state pageant awards thousands of dollars in scholarships, cash and prizes each year.
Entries are available at Rita’s Bridal and Formal Shop, 131 S. Main St., Hinesville.
