Boys and Girls Club receives $10K donation from Georgia Power

The Liberty County Boys and Girls Club received a big boost June 17, when the Club’s Board members were handed a check for $10,000, a donation from Georgia Power.

Present at the check presentation were Liberty  County Board of Commissioners Chairman Donald Lovette, Chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Boys and Girls Club Liberty County branch Edna Walthour, Former Hinesville Mayor and Board member James Thomas Jr., Liberty County High School Guidance Counselor and Board member Debra Morris Reed, Georgia Power Liberty and Bryan County Manager Randy Mayfield,  Board member and grant writer Debra Attical and Reverend McCray Mangum Pastor at Thebes AME Church and Principal of Lyman Hall Elementary.

The Liberty County Boys and Girls Club was recently gifted a parcel of land for their first of what Walthour hopes to be many club locations. That location is at 5540 W Oglethorpe High adjacent to Cedar Hill Mobile Home Park in Walthourville.

Walthour, was said to have taken the initiative in bringing the organization here and spearheaded the efforts. She had envisioned Boys and Girls Clubs for the community for quite some time. The clubs will be operating under the charter of Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club of Savannah.
