Food Lion is set to open a new store at 2389 W. Highway 196 in Hinesville later this fall. The store will be Food Lion’s second in Hinesville, and the city’s fourth grocery store overall.
According to Food Lion spokesperson Karen Peterson, the new store will create about 50 new jobs.
Hinesville’s growing population was a key factor in the decision to open a second store, she said.
“We feel that the community is large enough that a second store would serve the area well,” Peterson said.
The store will feature Food Lion’s new prototype store layout, offering expanded varieties of produce, meat and wine, as well as large deli and bakery sections.
“The new prototype store is designed with customers in mind,” Peterson said. “It will be very welcoming and bright, with lots of windows and wider aisles. It’s set up to feel as if you were going from one local market to another. Each section will flow into the next.”
The new store will continue Food Lion’s involvement in the local communities it serves.
“Food Lion is very active with organizations like America’s Second Harvest and Childrenís Miracle Network,” Peterson said. “We plan to continue that involvement with this new store.”
Peterson is confident the new store will perform well.
“We wouldn’t be putting in a new store if we didn’t think it would be successful,” she said. “Consumers definitely want a choice. The new store will offer a great shopping experience and we think it will be very competitive.”
