Classes offered at the Armstrong Center for Professional and Continuing Education include:

Beginning Accounting/ Bookkeeping I
Learn the basic principles and concept of bookkeeping for business. The course is in small segments to accommodate today’s workforce. Begins Sept. 25. Cost, $60

Calligraphy  
The course aims to develop a fluency in writing the bookhand and italic styles. It also cover the basics of page layout and how to design ornaments using the calligraphic pen. Begins Sept. 29. Cost, $59.  

Journal Writing
Journal writing will help you get organized, enjoy life’s experiences, understand your emotions. Begins Sept. 25. Cost, $79

Writing and Selling Short Non-fiction
This course covers the development of ideas, the crafting of the written piece, polishing the work, and marketing it. Participants will aim to produce and submit for publication at least one article.  Begins Oct. 11. Cost, $79

Spanish Language Class
Classes begin Sept. 26.  Cost, $79
SAT Review Course
The class uses the test preparation manual produced by the Fairfax Lectern Test Prep Company. The student manual is included in the cost of the course. Cost, $110

Lifelong Learning Institute

The Lifelong Learning Institute at Armstrong is an organization of adult learners (age 50 and older) who design a college-level curriculum according to the needs and interests of its members. Classes are $30 each.  

Advanced Cardiac Life Support
This course provides certification by the American Heart Association related to emergency cardiac life support and resuscitation. Current CPR card required plus familiarity with arrhythmia interpretation and treatment modalities. Initial certification is a 16-hour, two-day course that provides 19.2 GNA contact hours. Cost, $180

Advanced Cardiac Life Support recertification
Several dates available. Cost, $160
