Sandi Rentz, a third-grade teacher at Smiley Elementary, was named WTOC's Top Teacher. Mrs. Rentz has been teaching third grade at Smiley Elementary for three years. She has taught a total of seven years. Mrs. Rentz emphasizes a love for learning to her students.
"When teaching, it is important for students to see the relevance of the learning. I want students to develop a love of learning and to feel successful as students," Rentz said.
WTOC news anchor Karla Redditte presented Mrs. Rentz with the Top Teacher award.
"We are very lucky to have Mrs. Rentz on staff. She is a teacher who is dedicated, hard working and enjoys teaching," Mrs. Jones, Smiley Elementary principal, said.
