The Liberty County Convention and Visitors Bureau (LCCVB) thanks the community for helping celebrate National Historic Preservation Month throughout May, by engaging in the LCCVB highlights of many of our local historic sites through various social media platforms.

Staff members concluded the month with the annual task of cleaning historic markers throughout the county, which has been an ongoing effort since 2015. This year, 24 historic markers throughout Liberty County were cleaned. Each marker designates the site of a historic event or location and was put in place by the Georgia Historical Society and the Liberty County Historical Society.

“This is always one of my favorite days, when we actually go out and do something tangible to give back to Liberty County,” said Leah Poole, president and CEO of the Liberty County CVB. “So much of what we do with the LCCVB is behind the scenes that no one is often aware of. This is our chance to step away from the desk, get out of the office and put in some real sweat equity.”
