The Long County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three people and is looking for two others for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping and assault that took place last week.

Three suspects — Veronica Garcia Enriquez, Alberto Enriquez and Lassone R. Walker — have been arrested and currently are incarcerated, while alleged accomplices Ibrihiym Bey III and Ciro Yalain Enriquez remain at large.

According to Sheriff Craig Nobles, at around 2 p.m. April 26, a man who lives in the Allenhurst area of Long County was walking with a group of friends along Winntown Road when a red Ford Taurus stopped near them. According to a witness, a female who is believed to be Veronica Garcia Enriquez got out of the car and approached the man and began hitting him in the face. A witness said that in addition to Enriquez, two other men and a second female were in the Taurus.

As the woman was striking the man, the two men from the car approached the victim, and one man pulled out a silver automatic pistol and allegedly chambered a round.  The witness said that the man pointed the gun at the throat of the victim, and he and the other man dragged the victim towards the car.  The witness said that as the man was dragged, Enriquez and the two men beat the victim on his face and body.  Once the victim was in the Taurus, the group drove toward Tibet Road.

Nobles said that when his office was contacted, a BOLO (be on the lookout) was placed for the suspects and the Taurus.

Nobles said that as his department was searching for group, Lt. Jimmy Middleton saw a vehicle fitting the description of the Taurus in Ludowici and made contact with the vehicle.  Nobles said that when Middleton stopped the car, he detained one black female and two black males who were in the car.  According to Nobles, the Ludowici Police Department assisted with the apprehension, and the three suspects were taken into custody and arrested after questioning.  The suspects were identified as Veronica Garcia Enriquez, Alberto Enriquez and Walker.  After the arrest, Nobles said that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was contacted to assist with the investigation, and an agent from the Kingsland office was assigned to the case.

Nobles said on the same day, Deputy Edward Pitts saw a man who appeared to have been beaten walking on Griffin Road.  When Pitts made contact with the man, he discovered that he was the man who the group had kidnapped and beaten earlier.  Pitts transported the man to the sheriff’s office and requested an ambulance.

Nobles said that as a result of information gathered from the victim and other witnesses, warrants were issued for Alberto Enrique, Bey III, Ciro Yalain Enriquez, Walker and Veronica Garcia Enriquez.

Alberto Enriquez was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and two counts of reckless conduct;  Veronica Garcia Enriquez was charged with battery and party to a crime; and Walker was charged with party to a crime.  The three suspects currently are incarcerated.

The sheriff said that Bey III has been charged with false imprisonment and kidnapping, and Ciro Yalain Enriquez is being charged with false imprisonment.  Nobles said both men are believed to have fled Long County to avoid arrest and are considered dangerous.  Nobles also said that additional charges are pending in the case, and that the incident is believed to be gang related.

The LCSO said anyone who has information regarding the location of Bey or Enriquez can call 545-2118.
