A Richmond Hill man has been indicted May 7 by a federal grand jury on child pornography charges.

George Thomas Grant, 123 Mingarry Road, is charged with one count of receipt of child pornography, one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, according to the indictment returned May 7.

Grant, a former optometrist who practiced in Hinesville and Richmond Hill pleaded not guilty to the charges during an arraignment hearing Thursday, first assistant U.S. attorney James Durham said.

Grant's bond was set at $250,000.

The indictment alleges Grant received one or more images of child pornography between Dec. 29, 2009, and March 5 in Bryan County.

It also claims Grant distributed one or more images of child pornography between Feb. 3 and Feb. 6 in Bryan County and had child pornography in his possession on March 5.
