Fort McAllister to host Kids' Crabbing Tourney
6th Annual Kids Crabbing Tourney Flyer.Gerralds

The sixth annual Kids’ Crabbing Tourney, presented by Salt Cured, will be held Saturday at Fort McAllister Marina.

Last year’s event drew approximately 100 children competing for the heaviest catch. Individuals or teams may weigh in their 10 largest crabs.

Proceeds will be donated to Family Promise of Bryan County on behalf of the winner. Additional prizes will be awarded to winners and all participants will receive a medal. Drawings will be held for additional prizes.

There will be music, hermit crab races, snow cones, giveaways and more. A traditional crab boil will follow.

Family Promise of Bryan County is a collaborative partnership of congregations within the community helping families with children in schools who are facing homelessness. It helps homeless families regain their housing, independence and dignity. Currently, approximately 68 homeless school-age children have been identified in the area.

Registration is from 9:30-10:30 a.m., and weigh-in is at 4 p.m. at Fort McAllister Marina, 3203 Fort McAllister Road in Richmond Hill. Cost is $10 per child  and  up to $50 per boat.
