Embattled Walthourville Police Chief Bernie Quarterman was fired Wednesday after a a hearing held between city officials and Quarterman. After the hearing City Clerk Melissa Jones announced the Chief's termination effective immediately. 

Jones, who is also the city's human resources director, said Jerrald Burgess will serve as acting police chief. 

Walthourville City attorney Jeff Arnold said Quarterman was fired for violatiing city policies.
