Gunn arrives in Norfolk, Va.: Navy Airman Jerome L. Gunn, who is assigned to the Enterprise Carrier Strike Group, recently arrived in Norfolk, Va., following a seven-and-a-half-month deployment supporting operations in the Mediterranean and the Arabian Seas.

Gunn is the son of Connie Gunn of Hinesville and Jerome Gunn Sr. of Hinesville.

He joined the Navy in November 2008.

Ashdown graduates boot camp

Pvt. Brandon Ashdown, 19, of Hinesville, graduated from the United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot on Parris Island, S.C., on Nov. 16.

Ashdown completed 13 weeks of training at as one of 88 recruits in Training Platoon Echo 2093. Following a 10-day leave he will report to Camp LeJeune for military combat training.

Ashdown is a 2011 graduate of Liberty County High School and the son of Jane Nadolski of Hinesville and James Ashdown of Hinesville and the grandson of Walter and Thea Nadolski of Hinesville.

Wise promoted to lieutenant colonel

Malcom L. Wise has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army.

Wise is assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Red Cloud, South Korea. The new lieutenant colonel has served in the military for 17 years.

He is the son of James and Emma Wise of Hinesville. His wife, Lasandra, is the daughter of Bessie and Timothy Jones of St. Roberts, Mo.

Wise graduated in 1990 from Waynesville High School in Missouri and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1995 from Fort Valley State University in Georgia. He also earned a master’s in 2002 from the University of Missouri—St. Louis.

Adkins graduates basic training

Navy Seaman Recruit Brandon Adkins, a 2012 graduate of Long County High School in Ludowici, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Brooks graduates basic training

Air Force Airman Stephanie A. Brooks graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Brooks is the daughter of Petra and Robert Brooks Jr. of Hinesville.

She is a 2010 graduate of Bradwell Institute.

Rodriguez enrolls in ROTC program

Christopher N. Rodriguez has enrolled in the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program at Marion Military Institute in Alabama. Upon graduation and completion of ROTC military science courses at the host university, the cadet will receive a bachelor’s degree and a commission of second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Rodriguez is the son of Hector and Janet Y. Rodriguez of Hinesville.

He graduated in 2012 from Camden Military Academy in South Carolina.
