Marquana Adale Jasper, who is accused of shooting a man Thursday, has been denied bond.

In a courtroom Saturday morning at Liberty County jail, Deputy Magistrate Jimmie Bowmar ruled that Jasper should not get out of jail.

She has been charged with aggravated assault in the shooting of James Stewart.

Stewart was found Thursday night in a ditch along Highway 196 near Gum Branch with a gunshot to his head, according to Sheriff Steve Sikes.

Saturday, when Jasper left the bond hearing she was crying as she was escorted back to her cell by Chief of Detectives Maj. Dennis Davis.

Stewart was still listed as being in critical condition at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Saturday morning.
