A 7-year-old child was shot and killed Saturday at the Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park in Long County, according to Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles.

At about 11 a.m., the child was struck in the upper chest with a single round. A male adult in the house in lot 45 at the time is suspected to have discharged the weapon. The child was driven in a private vehicle to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, where the child was pronounced dead.

The adult is being questioned by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
