Construction crews hit a gas line Friday afternoon around 5 p.m. near Veterans Parkway in Hinesville. The northbound lanes of the road were closed for about 30 minutes while the line was repaired. The strong smell of gas drifted toward Oglethorpe Highway, but it remained open.
