Two Long County suspects wanted in connection with a case involving a kidnapping, a vehicle hijacking, an armed robbery and aggravated assault are in custody.

Cedric Harris was arrested on shoplifting charges Wednesday morning in Columbus.

Christie Marie Culbreth turned herself into Columbus police.

The two were wanted for their alleged involvement in a July 2 incident during which a Long County man, 57-year-old John Rowell, was beaten, robbed and reportedly put into the trunk of Culbreth’s car.

The two suspects then fled in Rowell’s car, according to Long County Sheriff’s Office Detective Al Cato.

Rowell managed to free himself from the trunk and call police. He was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center and treated for his injuries. His car, a 1999 Buick Park Avenue, reportedly was abandoned by the suspects when it broke down somewhere between Hawkinsville and Columbus.

Cato said Long County Sheriff’s Office representatives are expected to retrieve the suspects from Columbus in the next few days.
