A man was stabbed to death late Friday night when a fight broke out at a Time Saver store in Long County.
Long County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Nickey Anderson said that at around 11 p.m. Friday deputies responded to a reported altercation between two men at the Time Saver on the corner of Highway 196 and Ocie Watson Loop.
Upon arrival, they found Denzel Richardson, 18, lying in the parking lot of the Sand Hill area convenience store. Deputies checked the man and declared him dead at the scene from an apparent stab wound to the chest.
Anderson said Daniel Williams, 20, reportedly was the other person involved in the altercation. Authorities have interviewed Williams and he is a suspect in the case, the investigator said. Charges are pending further investigation.
Anderson said that according to reports, there had been recent trouble between Richardson and Williams, which likely led to Friday’s incident. The investigator said he cannot release details about the men’s past confrontations.
Anderson said anyone who has information about the case should call the LCSO at 545-2118.
