Williams qualifies for his old seat on Midway City Council

The next member of Midway City Council may be the most recent member of council to have stepped down.

Malcolm Williams, who resigned his post in March, has qualified to run for the seat his resignation opened. He was the only qualifier.

Qualifying closed Wednesday, and the qualifying fee was $162.

Early voting in the special election will be held October 15-November 1, and polls at the Liberty County Community Complex will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on November 5 for the special election.
