Blue Tide edge out Pirates 5-4, fall to Camden County

It took an extra inning, but Long County edged out a 5-4 win Tuesday in a baseball game against the Brunswick Pirates.
The game was at Long County. Thursday, the Blue Tide hosted Camden County and lost 12-3.

Blue Tide Krew Jones was 2 of 4 with a single, a triple and 4 RBIS to bring Long County up from a 3-0 deficit to take the one-run lead in the fourth inning Tuesday.

The Pirates tied the game 4-4 in the top of the fifth.
Neither team managed to drive in another run, forcing the extra inning. In the bottom of the eighth, the Tide rolled home for the 5-4 win.

Ryan Desbiens was 2 of 4 with 2 runs scored. Tripp Stapleton was 1 of 3 with an RBI. Antonio Golden notched the win, pitching seven innings. Desbiens pitched the extra inning.

Tide 3, Wildcats 12

It was a different outcome this time for the home stand fans and the Blue Tide. The Wildcats drove in six runs in the fourth inning to propel them ahead 7-3. Camden then added four runs in the sixth and a final run in the seven. The visitors had eight hits to score in their 12 runs.

The Blue Tide had four hits, but couldn’t cross home efficiently scoring only three runs for the game and loss.
Stapleton and Matt Strickland were 1 for 3 with an RBI each, Jones had an RBI as well. Four Tide pitchers saw action. Brian Lester took the loss, pitching 3.1 innings, striking out two, walking three and giving up seven runs.

Stapleton pitched 1.2 innings, striking out three and walking four. Andrew Swindell pitched an inning, getting two strikeouts and walking two. Josh Gordon pitched an inning, walking one and getting one strikeout.

The Blue Tide play at Bacon County Tuesday. They are 5-4 overall and 2-0 in region 2-AA.
