Blue Tide finish caps successful track season

ALBANY - The Long County Blue Tide track team competed in the state championship meet at Hugh Mills Stadium, and several individuals and one relay team found themselves on the podium at the end of the day.

On Thursday, the boys’ 4x800 meter relay team started off the weekend as they placed eighth with a school record time of 8:40.26. The team is made up of seniors AJ Blackmon and Anthony Ferrie, junior Trent Rutherford and freshman Trevor Kuchar.

On Saturday, all three qualifiers found a spot on the podium with one more runner joining them.

C.J. Glenn ran a school record time of 50.14 and placed sixth in the boys 400-meter dash, France Smith ran a 47.52 and placed seventh in the girls 300-meter low hurdles, and Ferrie ran a 2:00.45 and placed seventh in the 800-meter run.

Freshman Macey Higgason placed seventh in the girls 3,200-meter race with a 12:26.
