Former Bradwell Institute track athlete KeAndrea Ladson, a sophomore at the University of South Carolina Upstate, broke her own school record in the 55-meter hurdles Feb. 20 at the App State Indoor Open in Boone, North Carolina.

According to the university’s athletic website, Ladson finished first in the preliminaries with a time of 8.37 seconds to break the record. Ladson followed that performance by winning the finals in 8.41.

Her previous record time of 8.52 was set during last year's Appalachian Open.

Breaking records is something Ladson knows well at USC Upstate. During the 2014 outdoor track season, she set a new school record in the 100 hurdles portion of the heptathlon at the Charlotte Invitational.

Ladson also had six top-10 finishes, including a second-place finish in the long jump at the Carolina’s Cup, according to the website. She finished fifth in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the high jump during the Carolina’s Cup. Ladson later claimed a fourth-place finish in her first heptathlon at the Charlotte Invitational.

In her 2013-14 indoor season, her freshman year, she had three top-10 finishes at the Appalachian Invitational and received A-Sun Women’s Field Performer of the Week honors. Ladson finished her freshman year with several top-10 performances and established three school records that she still holds or has bettered.
