The Lady Dream girls’ basketball team is gearing up for its 2016 AAU season and hopes to add a tournament in Hawaii to the schedule.

Lady Dream coach Shelly McElveen said the team is composed of girls ages 12-18 from Hinesville, Savannah and the surrounding areas.
The coach said the team practices at Johnnie Fraiser Park in Walthourville on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. She said the team has a full AAU schedule, traveling to Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and North Carolina, as well as across Georgia.

At the end of the season, the Lady Dream are scheduled to go to Seattle. McElveen said that this year, the team has the chance to travel to Hawaii for an invitational tournament in July.

“We were invited to attend, and we would like to alleviate some of the costs through donations, as well as some other major local tournament expenses,” she said. “We are currently requesting funds to purchase uniform items and travel to different tournaments while gaining experience and exposure through basketball.”

McElveen said her players work hard.
“We are currently raising and mentoring these young ladies because we realize they are our future, and every opportunity to teach them something not only on the courts, but in life as well, matters,” she said.

The team is also currently accepting sponsors.
The team has set up a GoFundMe account: www.go fundme.com/rhsf6ess.
