The Long County girls basketball team got back on the winning track Friday, beating Charlton County, but on Saturday they were clearly outmatched as they fell to Glynn Academy.
The Indians had the home court advantage on Friday, but it wasn't enough. The Lady Blue Tide won the game 50-31.
In the game Brittany Mills and Shareka Turner had big nights. Mills led all scorers with 20 points and Turner was big off the boards with 12 rebounds. Angel Wilson had 6 points and Brenda Collins and India Gamble each had 7.
On Saturday, the girls traveled to Brunswick to take on 3-AAAA Glynn Academy, and despite a game effort, they were unable to follow up their performance from the night before, falling to the Lady Terrors 36-85.
In that contest the leading scorers for the Lady Tide was Wilson, Brie Page and Mills, who each had 8 points.
The Long County Lady Blue Tide (4-9) sit at 2-5 in the 2-AA Region behind Appling County (8-7) at 3-4 and Jeff Davis County (8-5) at 2-3.  All four teams are fighting for at least a fourth place finish in the region, which is the spot needed to make the play-offs.
Wednesday night, the Long County team faced Brantley County, but the results for that game were not available in time for today's paper.
This Friday, the ladies have a chance to get closer to fourth place as they take on Jeff Davis County.
The Lady Yellow Jackets are coming off wins over Bacon County and Appling County, so will be trying to avenge their loss to the Lady Tide earlier in the season.  When the two teams met in Ludowici, the Long County ladies won the game 63-59.
The game will be in Hazlehurst, and tip-off is at 6 p.m.
