Long County High School Athletic Director Karen Swindell and Principal Scotty Hattaway recently accepted the 2013 Georgia High School Association Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.
The award was presented by Georgia Electric Membership Corporation representative Connie Thrift. The school learned that it would receive the honor in September for demonstrating good sportsmanship during the 2012-2013 school year.
There are 437 high schools that belong to the GHSA, and Long County was one of only 48 schools in the state to receive the award.
Swindell said that receiving the honor was only possible as a result of good sportsmanship being displayed by the students, school staff and the community.
