Region playoffs under way with a bang
Liberty County, Bradwell vying for state playoff berths this week

Both Liberty County High School and Bradwell Institute started their region playoff games this week.
The Lady Panthers beat Richmond Academy, 63-55, on Monday in  Statesboro in the first round of the Region 3-AAAA tourney but lost to Cross Creek in round two, 63-37, Tuesday.
The Panther boys advanced to round two after eking out a 56-55 win over Cross Creek on Wednesday.
Freddie McSwain led Liberty with 25 points. Michael Farrior added 16, and Jishaun Harris scored eight points.
The boys were scheduled to play Thursday against Butler. Results were not available by press time.
Meanwhile, in the Region 3-AAAAA tourney in Effingham, the Bradwell Institute girls’ basketball team easily eliminated Windsor Forest, 77-39, on Wednesday. With the win, the Lady Tigers advanced to tonight’s semifinal game against the winner of Thursday’s Richmond Hill-Glynn Academy game.
The girls’ semi-final game starts at 3:30 p.m.
The Tigers were scheduled to play Windsor Forest on Thursday. Results were unavailable at press time.
