MLK Golf Tournament set
The Liberty County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Observance Association will host its ninth annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on April 13 at the Cherokee Rose Country Club.  
Deadline to register is today. The organization is looking to sign up at least 16 teams. The annual golf tournament is the last in a series of events this year to benefit the organization’s scholarship awards.

LCRD introduces new program
The Liberty County Recreation Department is introducing a new fitness program. Stroller Fit Moms is a total-body workout for prenatal and postpartum mothers with stroller-age children.
Registration is under way. The group will meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10-11 a.m. on the track at Liberty Independent Troop Park.
The fee is $35 per month for unlimited classes. The program started April 8. Participants need to bring their own strollers (plus baby or babies), water, snacks, towel/mat and a 5-to-10-pound set of dumbbells. For more information, call instructor Jessica Benton at 876-5359.

Smiley Golf
Tournament April 20
The fifth annual John E. Smiley Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m. April 20 at the Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville. The entry fee is $50 per person and the format is a four-person scramble.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
This year’s tournament will benefit Micah Smiley, 6, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

YMCA T-ball
The Liberty County YMCA is accepting registrations for the upcoming T-ball season. Registration is under way until May 10, and is open to children ages 3-7. For more information call 368-9622.
