The Citizens of Georgia Power held its third annual “Pitch a Cure” softball tournament March 23 to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The co-ed, double elimination tournament at James Brown Park started at 8:30 a.m. and ended at 10:30 p.m. The weather fluctuated between sunshine, rain, thunder, lightning, wind and cold temperatures, but the tournament ended successfully.  
Twelve teams participated. This year’s first-place winner was Team DLH. Second place went to Mixed Nuts, and third went to Disturbing the Peace. Other teams in attendance included Just Us, SNF Chemtall Poly-Mites, GATAS, Jesup Drive-In, United Military Care, Georgia Rage, Team Ramrod, Ball Busters and Liberty County. The event raised $3,872.21.
