University of Tennessee basketball player Jordan McRae, a former Liberty County High School star, was selected third overall in the Pilot Rocky Top League, joining the Choice Spine team.
The Pilot Rocky Top League is a summer basketball program featuring top players from East Tennessee.
McRae shined last season as a member of the Knoxville News Sentinel team. Last June he scored a game-high 48 points in the opening game of league play. The Pilot Rocky Top League begins play Monday.
For the Volunteers, McRae appeared in all 34 Tennessee games, including 15 starts, in his sophomore year this season, according to UT’s athletic website.
He came off the bench to score in double digits in six of the Volunteers’ last 14 games.
McRae led the team in blocks with 26 and was tied for second with 66 deflections.
McRae scored 16 points, six rebounds and four assists against Ole Miss in February and had the top play on ESPN’S SportsCenter when he made a dunk over Ole Miss player Terrance Henry, according to the website.
McRae also scored 16 points and had a career-high eight rebounds against South Carolina, and notched 14 points, four assists and three blocks against Arkansas.
He finished the season with 293 points, 52 assists, 26 blocks and 20 steals.
He also had 16 offensive and 83 defensive rebounds.
McRae also had been contributing off the court.
Earlier this month, McRae and several members of the UT men’s and women’s basketball team volunteered assisting Habitat for Humanity building homes in Knoxville.
