Tenth-ranked Long County Blue Tide boys basketball team picked up a region win on Friday, and then lost a non-region game on Saturday.
On Friday the boys traveled to Folkston to take on Charlton County, and had one of their better games of the season as they held the Indians to 63 points, while scoring 86.
In that game Ricky Rivera had 11 points, Justin Boyd put up 12, and Jimmy Bacon and Robert Gamble couldn't seem to miss as they each had 26 points.
The following night the boys team then traveled to Brunswick to take on Glynn Academy.  The Terrors (9-7) came into the game undefeated in the 3-AAAA standings, and were coming off a tough win over Wayne County.
On this night, the Glynn boys proved to be too much for the Blue Tide and beat the boys from Ludowici 66-57.
With the loss, Long County's record fell to 11-4 overall, and 5-2 in Region 2-AA, behind Appling County (14-1) at 7-0, and Savannah Christian (7-5) at 4-1.
Long County faced Brantley County last night, but the results were not available in time for publication today.
The Blue Tide travels again Friday as they take on Jeff Davis County. In the teams' first contest, Long County easily won the game 85-51, but the Yellow Jackets are coming off two back-to-back regions wins against Charlton and Brantley counties, and will be seeking to even the score on their home turf.
Tip off will be at 7:30 PM in Hazlehurst.
