The South Effingham Mustangs came to Panther Field determined to surpass what Richmond Hill had done last week to the Lady Panthers. They did that and more in their 7-0 shutout. The normally hot battery of the Lady Panthers, that were held to only two hits against Richmond Hill, had no hits against a strong South Effingham pitcher who also had 15 strikeouts.
Although scoreless until the fourth inning, the Lady Panthers allowed two scores in the fourth, three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth inning. Most of the scores were due to Panther errors. The Lady Panthers hope to regroup in time for Thursday’s senior night game against St. Vincent’s at Panther Field at 4:30 p.m.
The Lady Panthers will have an opportunity to seek revenge on the South Effingham Mustangs when they play again Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
