Liberty County Department of Family and Children Services Director Cornelius McRae has accepted a regional position.
The announcement was made during the DFCS board’s June meeting.
According to LeRoy Felder, Region 12 DFCS director, the change is effective Aug. 1 when McRae will move to the DFCS Region 12 office as a quality assurance specialist.
In his new position, McRae will provide training to Region 12 county staff to ensure quality services are rendered in meeting the needs of children and families.
McRae will also be responsible for reviewing county practices in the nine-county region, and assure all state and federal standards are being met. Also, he will assist counties in developing quality improvement plans.
Felder said McRae would be a welcomed addition to the regional support network at the Region 12 field office.
Paula Mungin will serve as the county’s interim administrator until a new director is hired, a process that can take up to 90 days.
