FORT STEWART, Ga. – Soldiers from Company D, 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, attached to 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, learned to prepare vehicles and other types of military equipment for sling load operations, Aug. 21-24, on Fort Stewart, Ga.

The training ensured soldiers understood the techniques for inspecting and preparing cargo loads for helicopter transport.

“This training is important for an environment with challenging terrain,” said 1st Lt. Michael Cugino, the distribution platoon leader for Company D. “Terrain constraints affect logistics, which in turn, affect any mission.”

“This option of transportation gives us the ability to ship necessary sustainment supplies and equipment to the soldiers who need them,” Cugino concluded.
