Editor, The Hinesville chapter of the DAV, located at 110-A Bagley Street in Hinesville, continues with its primary mission in assisting veterans and their families with filing claims for Veterans Administration benefits and inquiries.
As of Aug. 15 of this year, we have provided service a total of 393 local area veterans.
The office of DAV Chapter 46 of Hinesville, is open on Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Telephone number (912) 368-2546. The staff members are comprised of disabled veterans volunteering their time in answering questions and extending assistance. Presently, at least seven certified and trained service officers are available to file claims for veterans.
A monthly meeting is held every third Monday at the Western Sizzlin’ Restaurant at 7 p.m. Members and any guest are all welcome.
In addition to serving local area veterans, the DAV Chapter 46 service officers are scheduled to visit different places to meet with veterans to answer questions or file claims for them, including Kingsland on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. They were in Waycross yesterday.
Upcoming events include a fundraiser/membership drive at the Wal-Mart in Hinesville on Oct. 4, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and a cookout on Oct. 18 at the local DAV chapter office, during which veterans will be assisted in their claims
