Biggest Loser
registration open

 

Registration closes today for the Liberty County YMCA’s new Biggest Loser Challenge.

Three six-member teams will face off to see which one loses the most weight.

The contest runs from Feb. 9 until April 9.

Workouts are set for Mondays and Wednesdays. Challenges are set for Thursdays.

The time slots available are 5:30 a.m., 9:15 am, and 6:30 p.m.

Under-18 participants must have parental permission

The cost is $100 for YMCA members, $120 for non-members. All participants must pass a health history pre-screening. Eligibility will be determined by body-fat percentage

track and field

 

 

Registration for Fort Stewart youth track and field began Jan. 20, and is open to all CYS members who are between the ages of 7-14 by Dec. 31, 2009.

Six-year-olds may participate provided they turn 7 before next Jan 1. Age groups are 7-8, 10 and under, 12 and under, and 14 and under for both boys and girls.

Register between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at CYS, building 443 on Gulick Avenue. CYS is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Wednesdays. For more registration information, call 767-2312. For more information on track and field, call 767-4371 or 767-9270.

 

YMCA spring sports
registration

Soccer: Registration is Feb. 1-March 7, and is open to ages 3-14. After March 7, a late fee will apply. Practice begins the week of March 23.

T-Ball: Registration is Feb. 1-March 7, and is open to ages 3-6. After March 7, a late fee will apply. Practice begins the week of March 23.

LCRD registering for spring programs

 

The Liberty County Recreation Department is registering players for spring programs through Feb. 20. All programs begin in March.

Volunteer coaches are needed for all youth programs. Adult programs are for team entries.

On-line registration and information is available at www.lcrd.net. Age verification must be on file for all participants. For more information, call 448-LCRD.

Youth track and field is for Liberty County residents who turn 7 and do not turn 15 prior to Jan. 1. Age divisions are 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14 for both boys and girls. The fee is $15 per participant.

Youth and adult volleyball is for ages 10-15 as of March 1 and costs $15 per child. Ages 16 and older may participate in the adult program. The fee for adult teams is $150.

Youth and adult soccer is for ages 4-17 as of Aug. 1 and costs $30 for ages 4-7 and $45 for ages 8-17. Ages 16 and up may participate in the adult program. Adults teams cost $150.

Wrestling is for ages 7-17. The fee is $25. The program is conducted each Tuesday and Thursday evening and on Saturday mornings through May.

Adult fitness program is a walking based, low impact, fitness program for ages 16 & up, conducted on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings at James Brown Park. Call 448-LCRD for details.

 

Semi-pro football preparing for season

 

The Hinesville Hurricanes are getting ready to gear up for the 2009 season and they are looking for former and new players to hit the grid iron.
