St. James camp

 

Registration is under way for St. James summer day camp. Registration is from 2-7 p.m. and the fee is $50 per week. The camp hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday- Friday.

Activities for ages 5-13 include swimming, bowling, skating, arts and crafts, basketball and field trips to Splash-n-The Boro and Chuck E Cheese. For more information, call Ernie Walthour at 884-3016 or 980-4559.

Sign up for football, cheerleading, soccer

 

The Department of the Army Child Youth and School Services will have tackle football, cheerleading and fall soccer registration June 29-Aug. 10, or when all slots are filled. Register at the Fort Stewart CYSS, building 443, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, or 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday.

Football is open to ages 7-13. Fee is $60. Cheerleading is open to ages 6-13. Fee is $30. Soccer is open to ages 4-13. Fee is $30.

The fee is waived if one or more parents are deployed. The fee is waived for the first child and there is a 10 percent discount for each additional child of volunteer coaches.

All participants must have a current physical on file. For more information, call 767-4371.

 

Flag football league

 

Registration for the YMCA flag football leagues runs through July 6. Registration is open for ages 3-16. Practice begins around July 13 and games start around July 27. Volunteer coaches are needed. For more information, call 368-9622.

 

Y Gymanstics planning camps

 

YMCA Gymnastics is having "Flip and Splash" camp that includes gymnastics, crafts and swimming:

• Session 1 Tuesdays and Thursdays through July 9, ages 3-5 from 9 a.m.-noon; ages 6 and up from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

• Session 2 Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 14-30, ages 3-5 from 9 a.m.-noon; ages 6 and up from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Pool now open

 

The Liberty County Recreation Department swimming pool is open. The pool is in Liberty Independent Troop Park on Highway 84 in Hinesville. Hours are 2-6 p.m. every day. Admission is $2 per person. The pool may be reserved for private parties.

Swimming lessons for ages 4 and up will be offered at the pool in two-week sessions (Tuesday-Friday), mornings: June 26, July 7-17 and July 21-31, at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. evenings: June 26 at 6:10 p.m. The cost is $2. Slots are limited. On-line registration is available at www.lcrd.net.

Sunday night is family night with only parents and children admitted from 6:30-8:30. Monday night is senior swim for ages 50 and older, from 6:30-8. Thursday night is pre-teen swim for ages 9-12, from 6:30-8:30. Admission is $2 per person.

The pool may be reserved for exclusive use by individuals or groups. The fee is $50 per hour for 25 people or fewer, $75 per hour for 25-50 people, $100 per hour for 50-75 people, and $125 per hour for 75-100 people. Reservations must be made through the LCRD Office.

LCRD summer programs

 

Liberty County Recreation Department's 2009 summer programs include day camp, swim lessons, swim team, sports camps, taekwondo, golf, tennis, track and field and more. Register at the LCRD Office on Highway 84 in Hinesville. Hours are Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Registration will continue until all slots are filled. Y’s Kids after school program

 

Liberty County YMCA is taking registration for its Y’s Kids, an after school program for middle school children (sixth-eighth-grade) at the YMCA. Transportation will be provided from middle schools to the Y. Registration is June 29-July 2. Sliding-scale fees are based on income. Operation Homefront
backpack giveaways

 

Operation Homefront is giving away 500 backpacks filled with school supplies to military families, E-5 and below on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. Interested parties must call Christina Anthony or Ashley Carpenter at 368-9622. Distribution will be at an education and community information fair at Club Stewart on July 21st and HAAF on Aug. 5 from 10-2 p.m.

 

Operation Homefront
financial assistance

 

Operation Homefront is helping financially strapped, military families afford sports team registrations, cultural and art classes, etc., for children of Georgia service members. For more information, call Christina Anthony or Ashley Carpenter at 368-9622.

 

2009 Tiger Tee-Off
Tournament

 

The Bradwell Institute 2009 Tiger Tee-Off Golf Tournament is at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville. Registrations are being accepted for four-person scramble teams. The entry fee is $50 per person, $200 per team. Lady Tiger softball
voluntary conditioning

Lady Tiger voluntary softball conditioning will continue every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. through July. Current medical physicals are required to attend conditioning. Parents or players with questions should call the coaches at 369-8384, 977-2015 or 977-2016.
