Long County High School graduate Shirley Posey was one of the teachers selected by the Philadelphia Eagles and Axalta who were recently recognized as outstanding STEM teachers in the tri-state area for their contribution to their students, school, and community.

Axalta All-Pro Teachers is a program that recognizes outstanding 5th through 12th-grade teachers in the tri-state area for their contribution to their students, school, and community. During the NFL season, Axalta and the Philadelphia Eagles will select ten (10) exceptional teachers to be honored in their classrooms and by Eagles fans.

Posey has been an educator for eleven years, including her role as a college professor and as Johns Hopkins University CTY Sensory Brain Instructor. She has facilitated 11th grade Biology at Imhotep Institute Charter High School since 2017. Upon arrival at Imhotep, Shirley was challenged to help increase Biology Keystone Tests Scores and to revamp the biology II course. Not only has she increased the Biology Keystone Scores significantly, she also revamped the curriculum to include: Open Heart Surgery Sheep Heart Dissection, a Crime Scene Investigation Lab, aquaponics labs to increase fresh crops in urban communities and more.

Shirley earned her B.S. in Biology from Clark Atlanta University and her master’s in medical science from Hampton University. She is the co-founder of NeuroAdvanced Academics, Inc., an educational firm using neuroscience-based practices to enhance academic learning and to facilitate Professional Development for educators. Shirley is the loving mother of the brilliant and vibrant two-year old Elizabeth Elle.
