HPD, FBI respond to bank robbery, suspect still at large

At about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, the Hinesville Police Department responded to a hold-up alarm at the South Georgia Bank on South Main Street.

The suspect wore multi-layer clothing, a hoodie, hat and mask and also was carrying an umbrella.

Police believe the suspect was carrying a type of handgun at the time of the robbery. 

No injuries were reported. 

Two agents from the FBI office in Savannah arrived on scene and are leading the investigation. 

Law enforcement was seen gathering evidence from the bank. 

The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police. 

Police believe the suspect arrived and fled on foot in the direction of Woodwind South Apartments, next to the bank.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now offering a $2,500 reward for information that aids in the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.
